This is Christian Hosoi....He was in the first skate video I ever watched back in 1988, he was a hero for a lot of people at the time, he became a legendary skateboarder. The ultimate and one of the first skate rock star. After getting caught up in the vicious circle of drugs he got arrested with a huge amount of cocaine at an airport and was sent to jail for 10 yearsl. He lost his confidences and himself and then became a "born again christian". He got released for good behaviour and I met him this year in Sweden. I interviewed him with my friend Seb. That was so sad to see how dangerous religion can be, his own self disappeared as he gave his life to God (I even hate to write it). Jesus is in all his sentences and there is no more truth besides what's written in the bible. God is the answer to everything so it's easier to understand things this way. He is sure that his mission on earth is to open people's heart to his god, and only his god. He is a proud parent of a kid that is not allowed to curse, smoke, drink, have sex etc etc....He is american and you can tell. Is there a name for this disease ?

Maybe god addiction?
No kidding, you can't blame this poor man buddy. To him, he was about to kill himself before he got caught. And since he believes he was saved by god, you can’t take this away from him. And his promising career was cut short no matter what!
Most people do not realize that they are addicted to anything. Personally, I guess I stand by love… or maybe by sex, I’m not sure actually…

It’s typically American to try to call a disease, something that is getting out of hand…. American leaders are trained to create problems and then to spend the ‘idea consumers’’ money to solve them! That’s so brilliant!
For example, I just realized I’m addicted to sex (like most Americans)! But thanks to this society, I kind of feel better since I know it’s not my fault! It’s actually a disease and I’m just sick! Good for me!

Well yes it does feel good to think that disease and addiction or anything are not our fault. But we are leader of our own lifes, no matter what. Religions in America are pretty much sects. Born again christian are devoted to god and the text of the bible confuse everything. All they want is convict as many people as possible that they have to believe. Well, his addiction does not seem to dangerous compare to a lot of other ones...hosoi was addicted to sex, drugs, skateboarding, smoking, everything pretty much...the only one missing was god. Now the hunt is over, maybe he'll be sober soon. I hope so.

I'd rather use the word illusion instead of disease. That sounds a bit more hopefull. Diseases have to be cured. Illusions can be understood as what they are.
I don't know this man personally, but it sounds like he just needs something to hang on - like all of us do in one way or an other. I just feel, out of what you said, eric, that he allows no other opinion then his and his community's. To allow no other opinion and claiming to know the only truth is hipocritical to me. How can one claim to know the only truth if he allows no other???..
However, if God saved his life, I'm glad for him. He should just keep that to himself.
